Union Plus National Labor College Scholarship

With the National Labor College (NLC) at the George Meany Campus in Silver Spring, MD, America’s unions have their own college.

Each year a total of $25,000 is awarded to eligible student through the new Union Plus National Labor College Scholarship. The NLC typically award roughly 12 recipients with financial need every quarter.

UNION SAFE HELPS WORKERS DURING HARD TIMES

Working families in financial distress can turn to Union Plus for help.

The Union SAFE program - which stands for “Security, Assistance and Financial Education” - demonstrates the union’s movement’s answer to President Obama’s call for a new era of responsibility to help those who have fallen on hard times, says Leslie Tolf, president of Union Privilege, provider of the Union Plus benefits.

The new benefits program provides a wide array of benefits, including help for those suffering from layoffs to soaring hospital costs to problems paying mortgage to help saving for college.

GRANTS HELP UNION MEMBERS WITH LARGE HOSPITAL BILLS

The NEW Union SAFE Hospital Grants help to meet the extraordinary costs of unexpected health care crises, which are the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the U.S. Most chilling is that most of those bankrupted by medical bills have health insurance.

The new grant program provides $1,000 grants to help union members, their spouses or dependent household members with large, un-reimbursed hospital expenses that are 10% or more of their gross household income.
