The Union has filed an Unfair Labor Practice against the City of West Palm Beach for refusing to bargain the impact of a change in conditions of employment that no longer allowed PMSA employees to take home their City assigned vehicles. Because of the frivolous manner in which this matter was handled, the Union has now demanded attorneys’ fees.

 
The Union was also busy successfully representing a number of PMSA members who were issued disciplinary action and termination notification. One member was given what we consider bogus back-to-back write-ups in order to establish enough “progressive discipline” for termination. Although this professional chose to resign from employment, the Union was ready to arbitrate this matter and confident that it would have prevailed.

New PMSA 1-year contract negotiations are underway.  The City and Union feel confident that an agreement will be finalized in August, 2008. _____________________________________________________________________________________
